The 13th Edition of the US Open T20 cricket tournament will begin on December 2021 at the Central Broward Regional Park in Sunrise, Florida.
This announcement was made on Monday by Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi at the cricket body’s headquarters at Margate, Florida. The tournament will again carry prize money totalling $100,000 and 10 teams will be competing for honors. Last year the tournament was played with a reduced number of teams because of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
According to Qureshi: “We are happy to make this announcement because a number of players have been looking forward to getting the dates, to ensure that they are free to play.” Last year the tournament was won by Atlanta Param Veers with champion West Indies player Chris Gayle on board. Qureshi added that team owners are already busy retaining players and there will also be a draft held later in the year. “We just have a few short months to ensure that all is in place for this tournament and we have begun the process. We are going to host another top class event this year and I am sure that the teams will be stacked with a number of stars.
“Currently we have the Minor League being played here in America and this will give the players a chance to impress our team owners with the US Open T20 coming up. We look forward to welcoming all the players and I want to inform team owners that they will soon be provided with the date for the draft.”
