Qureshi bangs 94no on return

MARGATE/FL – USA: Hard-hitting right handed batsman Zishawn Qureshi slammed a quickfire unbeaten 94 to lead Coconut Creek to a 10-wicket victory over PCC Goolies on Sunday at the Maq Cricket Stadium in Delray Beach, Florida, USA.

The right-hander who only days ago returned from playing in the English leagues in England, showed what he learnt as the clobbered the bowling to all parts of the ground. Batting first Googlies CC made 130/6 off their allotted 20 overs. Opener Arvind Reddy made 30 off 38 balls with three fours. Also among the runs was Amit Khatri with 30 off 20 balls, including two sixes and two fours. Aditya Sen also chipped in with 19. Bowling for Coconut Creek Rizwan Mohammed grabbed 2/12 off four fours.

When Coconut Creek took to the crease, it was all about Qureshi. The attacked from early on getting nine sixes and four fours off 55 balls and was left on 94 not out when the victory was formalized. His opening partner Huda Mohammed made 28 not out off 30 balls with two fours. The duo was able to realize the victory with 35 balls to spare.

Qureshi recently returned from England where he played for Elland Cricket Club in the Huddersfield Cricket League. He had to cut short his stay in England as he had to come home to prepare for the USA Cricket Minor League Cricket tournament. He was selected as a marquee player for the Florida Beamers.

Speaking after his innings he told News925 that he was very happy with the runs. “I learnt a lot in England and if is one thing the pitches are very different to what we have here in Florida. The games I played there was in early season and the conditions where difficult but I still learnt a lot. I am hoping to put that experience into practice back at home in the upcoming Minor League.”
