New York wins their first game

New York region rebounded well after a disastrous opening day at the USA Nationals MaqT10 to win their first match on Saturday at the expense of South/Central Region at the Maq Cricket Stadium in Delray Beach, Florida, USA.

They scraped from by 12 runs after an impressive batting performance saw them reach 108/4 off their 10 overs. South/Central Region was then restricted to 96/6 in reply losing the match. Asim Hasan with an unbeaten 47 led the way for New York and coming to bat in the middle order he was able to hold the innings together. On the opening day New York’s problem was their batting but on Saturday there was a concerted effort to put runs on the board. Hasan faced 27 balls hitting three sixes and three fours. He got reasonable support from Naveed Ahmed 14 and Anisur Rahman 13 not out. Raajshekhar Reddy was brilliant with the ball for South/Central and nabbed three wickets for just seven runs.

Praveen Borra opening the batting for South/Central then smashed the New York bowling in the early overs but they were able to comeback nicely. After two overs 20 runs were already on the board but in the end good bowling by Rizwan Mohammad 2/13 pegged them back. Borra went on to score 55 off 30 balls with five sixes and two fours.
