New York wins again

New York Region continued their impressive comeback on day two of the USA National Championships/Maq T10 when they got past North Central Region by 12 runs at the Maq Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

New York after losing their first two matches on day one, rebounded with a 12-run win over South/Central early on Saturday morning and then recorded a win by a similar margin in game two. Batting first, New York made their way to 80/6 in 10 overs with Anisur Rahman getting 17 off 12 balls. Other batsmen to get into double figures were Rehan Mohammed 15 and Morshed Kalam 17. The pick of the bowlers for North/Central was Faizan Maqood 2/15.

Yakub Ali then turned in a magnificent performance with the ball grabbing four wickets for six runs to reduce NCR to 68/9 off their 10 overs. Lending good support was Shamshul Huda with 2/13. The only batsman to show some promise was Edwin Vijayan with 13.
