Biggest prize money in US cricket on offer

The biggest prize money in the history of United States cricket will be on offer for teams when the 14th edition of the US Open T20 gets underway at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, USA on December 5.
Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi started this tournament way back in 2008 and from the inception he was offering US$100,000 in prize money. Now he has decided to up the ante and take it to US$150,000 which means it is now the biggest cricket purse in US cricket.
Speaking on the increase the cricket administrator said: “We are happy to take the prize money upwards as we think that the teams are deserving of this. They have supported us over the years by investing their money and coming to play and we think they deserve an increase in the prize money.
“I know that all of the teams will be looking to come up with their best team to be the first winners of this big prize and we will be all too keen to hand over the winnings to the champions.”
The first team to win the US Open T20 title was Washington DC and although they are no longer involved in the tournament any of the 12 new teams will be looking to put their mark on the trophy.
