Another first by CCUSA
SUNRISE/FL – USA: History will be created today when for the first time in America a T10 cricket tournament will be played involving international players.
Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) in another first is staging the USA T10 International Premier League at the Central Broward Regional Park from May 18. CCUSA was the first body to stage T10 cricket tournaments in America. The first tournament was staged in 2014 when local teams took part. Eight regional teams representing different parts of the country under the CCUSA umbrella took part.
Chairman of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi whose idea it was to bring the first T10 tournament to the United States said whilst having only local players served to bring a lot of new talent forward, the time has come to introduce international flavor to the mix.
“We have spent a lot of money in bringing tournaments like this for our local cricketers to showcase their talents. Now the time has come for us to introduce the foreign stars so that out local players can benefit from playing against them.”
Qureshi, who has worked tirelessly in bringing cricket to America over the years added that this tournament has been fully sanctioned by the powers at be USA Cricket. “This tournament given the fact that foreign players are involved, has been fully sanctioned by USA Cricket which falls under the umbrella of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This is the first T10 tournament in this country that has gotten this international approval and we are happy about that.”
A total of 10 teams will be playing the four-day tournament which takes place at the ICC-approved venue in Sunrise, USA.
